An interesting watch, particularly in how it attempts to show the importance of collectivism over individualism. Lost in the Moonlight has some particularly cute character designs and neat ideas but most of the runtime didn’t have any sort of genuine impact for me personally.

    Beautifully animated
If only the fl wasn’t so annoying…

Not really the Korean Spirited Away. Far from it. This mercilessly impatient fantasy film is like having Michael Bay throw Miyazaki's brilliant isekai film into a blender.

Moonlight has some decent background art. That is where the comparisons end. 40 minutes (and 2 musical numbers) into this trashfire, I was screaming for the exit.

Most shots are less than 2 seconds long, and the character animation is incredibly poor throughout. Where Miyazaki's film dutifully followed the protagonists' every step and emotion, Moonlight is just a whirlwind of events with no emotional core.

Some gorgeous and colorful artwork (especially in the creatures and backgrounds) and a handful of enjoyable characters are unfortunately held back by a plot with a lot of turns that don't really make sense, a few morals that - although nice - don't fully come across as portrayed in the narrative, and a runtime that doesn't quite feel like enough to get the most out of its ideas. But hey, it did its job fine enough to grab me in and keep my attention.

  • Review by Requiem Zero ★★½

The people who behind this movie must have spirited away that made me think that they are physically present, but mentally absent as they made this movie.

that moment when you realize that this isn't a Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away) ripoff. anyways, i'll be waiting for someone to translate this so i can rewatch and understand the movie.
