A-K Valley Historical Society Flea-tique to open season

The Alle-Kiski Valley Historical Society’s Flea-Tique antique and collectible show will open the season from daybreak to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bull Creek Tour-Ed Mine site, off Bull Creek Road, in Fawn.

The event is held rain or shine on the third Sunday of each month May through October. No pets are permitted. Customer parking is $3 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the Alle-Kiski Heritage and Tour Ed Mine museums.

Rubber duckies to float down Little Pucketa Creek

A rubber ducky derby and outdoor market to benefit the Valley High School girls volleyball team will be Sunday at the high school in New Kensington.

A tailgate will begin at 9 a.m. There will food trucks, a flea market, bounce house, vendors and games. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The first race of $5 ducks will be at noon and the second race of $25 ducks will be at 1 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.

Today: A free shredding event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Allegheny Township municipal building, 136 Community Building Road. Residents can bring three bags or boxes of personal documents per household. Books, magazines and items in metal binding materials other than staples will not be accepted. No businesses please. Doors open at 5 p.m. Cost: $30, includes bingo supplies, food and drinks. Must be at least 21. There will be instant tickets, a basket raffle and a $1,500 cover-all jackpot game. Saturday: Harrison Township Recreation Board will host a free touch-a-truck from noon to 3 p.m. at Highlands High School. There will be train rides, food trucks and crafts.

Sunday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a car cruise from noon to 5 p.m. at the post pavilion, 894 Veterans Lane. The band Americana will play from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and there will be a food truck and 50-50. The monthly auxiliary spaghetti dinner will be from 1 to 5 p.m. inside the post. This will be the last dinner until fall. Menu: spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost: $10; children, $5.

Tuesday and Friday: The Who Knew? program at Community Library of Allegheny Valley will present “Amazing Pennsylvania Flowers” at 6 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Friday at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Attend either session. Saturday : Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department will host a spring bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Proceeds will benefit the Back to School Carnival planned for Aug. 24. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost: $25, includes six regular games that pay $50; three specials that pay $100; and a $1,000 must-go jackpot. The kitchen will be open.
